Blind Guardian Angel

We turned our eyes to Delphi,expecting her to give birth soon after.Days passed and turned into weeks..but nothing happened...

"How in teh hell did she get out!?" Chas cursed loudl as he and Mavis stood in the foaling paddock. "I triple locked teh gate since the last time.."

"Look like she used her added weight as a bonus.." Mavis says,knealing to pick up on teh crushed locks. She lifted her eyes to the area beyond teh paddock. Delphi was a month over her pregnancy...and now she was loose somewhere on the property. "Come on. Lets find our illogical mare."

The stablehands had bene searching for hours..well into teh night,using their search lights adn the dogs. But they found no sign of their blind broodmare. Many had eventually chosen to turn in.

Mavis pushed back some thorn bushes, grumbling as her hair got tangled in it since she was crouching, looking for signs of hoofprints in teh dim morning light. she knew she was at teh edge of her property..the trees had long since thinned out into the thorn bushes and grass shrubs.

Suddenly she froze,listening as she heard soft snorting and whickers. She moved towards teh sound slowly, though she called out Delphi. If the mare was with her foal,she didn't want to startle the blind mare.. There was no reply to her call..Finally she rose herself to her full height, hoping to see her pale mare.

Instead..amidst the grass near teh very borderline..she spotted a tiny bundle of legs and skinny body. The source of the noise,as when he breathed in his sleep he snorted and whickered, a horsey sleep talker. Mavis grinned,creeping closer to touch his pale blue-grey side,feelign a healthy heart under teh thin frame. "Where your mama boy... why are you alone.." she reached for her cell phone. "Case. Bring the truck out here. Also teh blanket,heater and the bottle..No I haven;t foudn her yet but ehr little boy needs help."

Mavis leaned into the stall boards,chuckling. "Geez for a little tyke you;re strong..Is that how you got so far from her?" she says softly.

After making sure the foal was content, Mavis adn Chase had continued the search.... They found their mare. She was laying peacefully in teh grass,her coat damp from melted frost. They ahd at first thoughs he was sleep..but just touching ehr skin adn Mavis knew.. their jumping star had passed away.

There was no cause.She didn't bleed out.. Serae though though teh fact she held ehr foal in for an extensive time was explaination enough. The colt was small,even for beign overdue. Serea seemed to think, using teh same..sense that helped ehr jump, Delphi protected her unborn colt, who would have died if born at teh right time. The overdue birth was the last illogical thing Delphi did before she joined her parents in the heavens.

That didn;t explain one thing though... Delphi was found some distance from the property...so How in teh world did her newborn colt stagger his way back to the property line on his own and stay in one piece..

"You have one hell of a guardian angel." Mavis murmued softly,stroking teh foal's odd blaze as he dozed beside her,his belly full.

Personality: As of now, the colt doesn;t have much energy for anythign aside from sleeping or eating, but when he feeds there is some show of strength, as he has been known to butt the handler feeding him often. He seems bright, but we're not ure if his rough start will ahve any kind of effect on him as an adult.

I love this boy The minute I got an ok for teh breeding his name came to me...ots based on his parents' guardian liek behavior, plus how an angel seemed to guide him home after his mother passed away
