and What We Have Faith In

Yes I did yet another entry for :iconoff-white-comic:’s mini-contest of designing the black and white spirits of a species. I said I had a lot of ideas…. ^^ This one is actually bit of a combination of a few I had.

These two swans protect what we have proven and what we can only speculate what we know and what we must take faith in… what we see and what we believe… So pretty much the intellect beings have, and then the dreams they believe in.

:bulletblue: Zeke is the white spirit, and he is the collector of what we already have found out, what can be proven again and again in any lab, what we say happens in and around us, even beyond us as well. He takes the intellectual direction in almost anything, such as referring to emotions in the reactions that occur inside our brains and what first triggers them to begin with. With his way of thinking, he is utterly confused by his counterpart’s babbles…well actually he is rather annoyed with them actually… He would much rather convince Shihab that everything has a proper reason and creation than accept anything the black swan says.
-I went with a more uniformed look for Zeke’s markings to fit with his uniform and straight mindedness, as well as making him seem more of Shihab’s opposite. The stripes and other markings are suppose to be all symmetrical as well, though I don’t think drew that part all to well.

:bulletred: Shihab, the black spirit, is the keeper of all that cannot b proven or completely understood, of the things you do not question just listen to, and of the dreams and thought people have inside their mind that defy what they should already know. Unlike Zeke, he prefers to see thinks on a spiritual side, often getting lost in his own wandering thoughts. His favorite things are what people truly cannot explain, such as feelings of dread before an accident, or déjà vu moments. Unlike Zeke, Shihab does not mid listening to Zeke’s side of things, in fact he tries very often to find some kind of connection, which only further annoys his companion.

+ Shihab’s markings are a bit more unorthodox I hope, random symbols thrown in here and there, the tear drop with a soul was sort of placed there to represent his free mind and the markings around it the ideas he could have with such an open mind.

Both Zeke and Shihab mean shooting star in Arabic, and I thought a shooting star was so perfect as definitions of names for these two cause everyone knows what a shooting star really is… but somewhere deep in our minds we generally believe it is something else, and that is can also grand wishes.

I choose swans because everyone seems to knowthem, as well as that famous story about the ugly duckling taht turned into a swan..and I think just like how we all wish comets really granted wishes, we all at one point ten to think of ourself as that isfit little duckling and want to turn ourselves into beautiful swans.

Originally in my idea, the black spirit was suppose to live as a reflection to the white spirit, so they were never apart yet never really together either.. I do not believe I displayed that well but that’s ok. Zeke is suppose to be settling in a calm body of water on Earth, which represents the easy science has given his mind, as well as that he is where he knows all, and naturally water is falling from his wings and splashing around him. Shihab is instead settling down in a rippling pool somewhere off in the unknown of space, a perfect place for a swan who believes anything is possible. Stars are falling from his moist feathers instead of water as well.
